AMARILLO, Tx. April. 24, 2009 — McCormick Company will take the lead to develop and implement communications programs for the newly created United Sorghum Checkoff Program.
Established in 2008, the Sorghum Checkoff is one of 18 commodity checkoff programs authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture.
"We’ve watched sorghum lose acres over the years and are excited to help USCP turn things around," says Kathy Cornett, chairman of McCormick. "Our team was honored to be selected, and we’re already running hard on this assignment."
Jill Goodrich, account executive in the Amarillo, Texas, office of McCormick, will direct the day-to-day work for USCP and will be assisted by a team drawn from several of McCormick’s sister operations.
McCormick Company was founded in Amarillo in 1926 and serves clientele throughout the United States and Canada from offices in Amarillo, Des Moines, Iowa, Kansas City, Mo. and Embro, Ontario. The company also has an interactive division called Aquarium.
