Integrated Marketing Agency History

McCormick Company is the 10th oldest integrated marketing agency in the U.S., according to the American Association of Advertising Agencies. Founded in 1926 by James L. McCormick in Amarillo, Texas, McCormick was the only agency between Dallas and Denver for a long time.

Over the past 80 years, McCormick Company has grown to about 100 employees across main offices in Kansas City, Des Moines and Amarillo. We grew up serving oil and agriculture and still work with clients in those industries today.

While no McCormick has worked here since Mr. McCormick's passing, we retain the name to honor our founder.  We remain independent and owned by a small group of employee shareholders.

Our Kansas City, Missouri, office opened in 1989, followed in 1995 with the opening of an office in Des Moines, Iowa.

In 2006, we launched Aquarium Digital Engagement, our interactive brand to provide full-service digital solutions to McCormick clients and other prospective partners.

Also in 2006, we changed our corporate structure to include a holding company, JLM1926 ― also named for our founder. Our sister companies under the JLM1926 umbrella include McCormick Global, The Hondo Group , Mariposa Partners and Unison Resource Company.
